Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies (C.A.R.E)
C.A.R.E. is a certified rape crisis center and certified domestic violence shelter for safe haven in Charlotte County. Our services, advocacy, counseling are provided free of charge and are confidential. C.A.R.E. advocates answer a 24-hour hotline/helpline by a live person every day of the year. They provide safety planning, information, referrals, and coordination of services. In addition, advocates provide 24/7 rape crisis hospital response. C.A.R.E. advocates can provide awareness and prevention education in schools, civic, church and health organizations throughout Charlotte County. Court advocates assist survivors in court and will assist with access to the Civil Victims Compensation Fund. Civil legal services to assist with orders of protection, stalking and custody/housing issues are also provided to victims/survivors.
